is there a 1155board with single pcie?
I have always been curious about the i5s and have been holding off building one because I don't need a multi Video card board , is there a decent single video card, good over clocking Motherboard for a i5 2500 cpu?

I think most ATX 1155 boards will have 2 pcie slots. If you only want 1, then you'd probably need to look at matx, something from asus probably.

I don't know if you are talking about a micro ATX board ,but ASRock has one with just one 16x slot for $55 and shipping Newegg.com - ASRock H61M-DGS LGA 1155 Intel H61 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
It is a ASRock H61M-DGS LGA and it just has one 16x slot, but it only has two memory slots.

Except you can't OC a H61 or H67 board, they run stock only. You have to stick to a P67, Z68 or Z77 board.

None of the 1155 boards overclock good because of how the memory controller is on the chip itself.Nearly all of the 1155 boards even if it has two or more PCIe slots want overclock to maybe 105mhz to 108nhz,that why intel came out with the K series so it could be overclocked.

You can't adjust the multiplier on H series boards.

To the OP, if it's a 2500K I'd recommend one of Asus's P8P67 line of boards, can be found pretty cheaply used. If it's a 2500 no K, any board will do, you'll be running stock speeds.

Wow great info People ty time to search :)

Are you looking for a Micro board,Because all the Sandy-bridge CPU's don't really overclock very good unless it is a K-series.Only the Sandy-bridge-E Series overclocks with the memory and thats because of the straps 1.25x,1.66xThey have quit a few micro boards . Intel makes a mini one with just one PCIe slot and it is a H77 but it looks like the card would hang off unless you find a single slot. and a intel micro H77

elmorejohn46, that's some seriously interesting information there. is that mini itx intel board overclockable?

if so, I think I might have found the start of my next build.

As mentioned above you need a P67, Z68, Z77 motherboard to overclock. On those motherboards i5 cpu can overclock by up to 400mhz (4 multipliers) and any i5/i7 cpu with a k at the end are multiplier unlocked and can be overclocked till your hearts content (again only on those motherboards). H61/ H67 motherboards cannot be overclocked on with any CPU.
