Attention Phenom Owners!
I am considering upgrading my 5000+ BE to a new 9850. I know anyone here with a Phenom will more then likely have a B2 stepping breed, but I still have a few questions for you.
Was it worth your while if you've upgraded from a dual core? Which games are you seeing big improvements in (if any)?
I'm wondering if I should wait for some faster samples to arrive or just go for a 9850. Most reviewers claim to be able to get them up to 2.8Ghz no problem (which isn't anything major by some people's standards lol).
That's about it for now. Thanks in advance for anyones input! :thumb:
Just found this benchmark test- I'm not how well pcmark really represents true gaming, but if this is a reflection of performance, it might not be worth it.
Although in the same review- the phenom is much better (compared to the 6000+) in other benchmarks- often double.
I would look at a bunch of reviews before deciding- i looked at a couple more that have it gaming on a par with the core 2 duos and quads

Thanks for the quick reply Babrbarossa. I looked over that material on the weekend..... a few times over! lol
I guess what I'm really looking for is some real world user input.
Does anybody regret buying a Phenom for a gaming rig?
Would you have rather bought a case a beer, a couple new games, and kept your dual core?
I'm happy with what I'm running right now, but you all know how it goes. When money permits and the ol' lady isn't going to castrate you for it, it's time to upgrade!!!!!! lmao
