Ya me to, that is what I would try first, I had an old 7 year old hand me down zalman CNPS9500 cooler, and after about a year I think the heatpipes dried up or whatever, and it had to be replaced.

The only spare I can think of is an Intel Stock Cooler, which I may or have not have thrown out or stashed in my storage. Anyone have any suggestions for a new CPU cooler?

i was considering the H80, but i dont think ill have enough room for a push/pull method. Is a pull method good enough?

I would think so, it is a thicker rad so should be OK, I know my temps sure dropped when I used my h50 when i replaced push/pull 1200RPM fans, with a single 3300 RPM server delta :D something along the lines of 12C load temp drops.

Do you know if it would fit with my EVGA X58? it has a unnecessarily huge heatsink.

My personal experiance with watercooling has been that a pull method with good fans seems to be the most optimal method of doing it. But thats just me, others here may disagree wth me strongly lol

I had problem with my i7-920 with all the sudden mt temperture were running way to hot and when I would look at the Task Manerger it showed all my cpu's running at a 100% ,it came down to that I downloaded something that was doing this. When it would be running real hot and all the CPU's were running way to high ,I went into the Task manerger and look at Processes and it showed the one that was at 99% and I would disable it it and everthing went back to normal. Then I searched for it and found it and deleted it it and everting was good again.I can't remember the name of it ,but I think it had something to do with the explorer.

Those temps looks like your cooler just don't work anymore (only way i can have those temps is stopping my water pump!).

Just get the 212+. It will cost you 25$, EASILY keep your oc ice cold and will even allow you to go a little higher if you want. All without too much noise.

BUT, if you really intend to up your oc, then do your homework reading reviews and checking deals. It is not really a matter of what's the best, more important (for me at least) is the performance/$.

I second this before changing anything. While it's running 'Idle', check out Task Manager and the Processes tab.
