I only overclock my cpu. I mean it's so simple for a n00b like me. I don't go for anything nuts I am only at 4.4 and thats from following the ASUS ROG guide.

For me MSI is more of budget board. Out of the 2 MSI mid range priced boards I've owned both had flaky temp sensors and the one just wouldn't hold a decent overclock(could have just got a defective board). I'm sure MSI's top of the line stuff is good but their mid ranged I probably wouldn't buy unless I'm doing a build with no overclocking in mind(aka a parent's comp).

Anandtech did a recent re-shootout of 990FX boards, which they covered from the top end/priced asus products, msi, gigabyte & the bottom end of things with the wildly popular sleeper biostar board. Msi boards where always middle of the pack in that re-shootout.

To me USUALY most of the user patterns I have seen over the forums for the last 8-10 yrs your looking at a either Gigabyte or Asus board ... then MSI ... then Biostar/AsRock/ECS.

Also to me, not ALWAYS is the most exspencive/popular brand name the best boards. I remember owning the Biostar TA690 board which was 1 of the best boards for a AMD 690G chipset which clocks cpu's the highest in oc's & was knockin off Asus boards 2x its cost.

IMO MSI is not what it used to be ,I think ASRock is comeing out with good boards, they are build great and have great prices for what you get.But nearly all of the boards have some good ones ,some just need a bios update to get everthing working right,But some just don't overclock worth a darn.I like to check out which ones has good teck suppport.I had great luck with my Gigabyte EX58-UD5,it is over three years old and it is still going strong.
