Do I need pcie 3.0?

I've totally got the upgrade bug and am thinking of completely re doing my system. I've been drooling over the 680 and I really want to wait for the 670/660ti specs before I purchase a kepler card. But this brings me to the motherboard. I found a great deal on a p67 mobo on this site bst section. But it only has pcie 2.0. I do plan to upgrade to ivy bridge if need be for boosted performance with 3.0 but I doubt I will go z77. It doesn't offer anything I need over a z68/p67. I am also not set on ivy if it doesn't warrant that much performance increase either with cpu performance or pcie 3.0.

So what do you guys think I should do. Go for the used p67? Or wait for ivy and get a pcie 3.0 motherboard?

You don't need PCI-E 3.0, hell we can't even fully saturated PCI-E 2.0. I think it just gives you more lanes right now, so if you want to tri card (sli or xfire) you'll have less likelihood of going x16 x8 x8 and more so x16 x16 x16.

Nope. Single monitor and single card gaming for me! Not much of an fps player. Got bored of bf3 fast.

Good call. You are good to go on 2.0 (as mentioned above we still aren't maxing that out and all 3.0 cards are backwards compatible to 2.0).

Worrying about PCIE 3.0 with current cards is like worrying that your new (non-SSD) hard drive doesn't support SATA 3. It's just a marketing tool that has almost no effect on actual performance.
