Default Will Z77 drop the price of P67 and Z68?

Will Z77 drop the price of P67 and Z68? I notice some of the the P67 mobo's are still as high as the Z68's. What do you guys think will happen?

No, this is a common misconception for PC parts. They usually just let the old become obsolete before they drop the prices much. I wouldn't wait for price drops.

Minimally, if any but I would expect the ivy counterpart of a specific proc to be about $15-$20 more. For example. The Core i7-2700k=$330 and the the 3770k $350.00. I do feel that prices for Z68 will drop faster than procs, but probably not fast enough. Newegg will hold a sale in a month or so on Z68/P67 mobos IMHO. Retailers know they got buyers by the balls when new technology comes out, they will take full advantage of old stock as well.

Might spark a few sales, but intel stuff never really drops to much, and if it does it is already EOL and discontinued (example 1366, good new boards are still $250-$300 at least and up)

The best you can hope for is a $20 off sale by the retailer, and a $30 mail in rebate from the manufacturer for a total of $50 savings if you're willing to go through the hassle of RMA for a barely usable $30 prepaid credit card.

It's true that Intel CPUs never drop much in price, but generally once a new motherboard series comes out, the old ones come down in price. This is especially true if there's a socket change.

There might be a clearance deal or two, but in general, no.
