Default Upgrade path possibilities ...

Alright guys, heres the dilemma.

As you can see in my sig, I have 2 systems : 1 SLI ready and the other is a single card (Blood Iron).

For a casual gamer like myself (with a 22inch screen), would it be worth it to swap systems (Intel for HTPC & AMD for casual gaming and websurfing) and buy a 8800GTS 512mb for the SLI ready AMD system…?

With that cpu, clocked up to 2.8ghz+, would I get reasonable fps in my current games (CoD4, UT3, SupCom) and possibly, later on with a second GTS512 for SLI, future games…?

I foresee prices coming down, so going nVidia in my mind would be worth it.

I don't plan on going quad core any time soon either…

Any input ?

Why not get an 8800GT? much cheaper and better performance.

The Gts 512mb only yields a 5%-10% performance increase over the GT 512mb, $80 isn't too much, but for the increase that you will see, it would be better to grab a GT and put good cooling on it and OC the sucker.

I would probably go with the GT- you can get them for 170 bucks now- much better price/preformance ratio

Alright, sounds like a plan for the 8800GT...

Now about using the 570SLI and the 3600+ Brisbane, can I expect decent performance, if OC'ed to 2.8ghz + ?
