ditto - happy to answer questions and help guide you.

some good reading on oc'ing principles and some tools/utilities should make it go quicker

I have the same cpu/mobo ... although the 6600 i have on that rig (it is a dedicated folding rig 724) is a dud compared to the other 6600's i have.
But some of my folding buddies have got really good results on that mobo with lower multi c2d's.

One thing that will help us is if you give us a complete description of the hardware on the rig, and what you use it for mostly.

Is it running stock hsf? Also, memory model, psu, video, drives and config are the most important. Case can be important too since good cooling is what you will fight against when you oc.
