Probably 'cause it's socket LGA771 so it fits in the Skulltrail & server mobo's.

But that's not that expensive, many server CPU's can run up to $3000+ each.

But the xeon's are cheaper than the e8400, and I thought xeon's were server CPUs?

I always seem to get sucked into these things. I bought the AMD FX-57 when it was at its peak popularity ($900 CAD) and for the last year+ I owned a Intel C2D X6800 (which I bought for $950 and sold recently for $400 :(). I sold the FX-57 last year for $100...

Something about unlockable multi's always seems to get me.
