Default MSI Big Bang Xpower X58 - Good motherboard? (current X58 mobo failing)

Sup guys,

A few months back during a guys night, a non-sober friend spilt and entire glass of lovely Tom Collins on my desk which proceeded to spill into the top fans of my comp and spray everywhere. Instant shutdown saved it but my mobo and gpu took the brunt of the spray. GPU died eventually, and my mobo (Gigabyte X58A-UD3R) has now lost it's last PCI-E slot and god knows what else is gonna fry. I've spent way too much time cleaning this crap off but i keep finding new spots where it's now caked on so bad that i cannot clean it.

At $149 is this a good replacement?

I don't have the expendable cash for a X79 system as i just bought a new house so upgrading would require spinning this to my accountant (Wife) in a way that is most likely not so truthful.....

by "nf chips" are you saying Nforce? Where does it say that? i can only see Intel.

Intel® X58+ICH10R (from MSI's website)

My i7 920 c0 seems to hit a wall at 3.8ghz, not really looking to hit anything higher than 4ghz. Just looking for something thats working and not on the verge of dieing.

Maybe i should look for a used REIII or something better?

Ya my 950 lived in a lower end mobo for 10 months before i purchased it from a friend and put it in my UD7. He could just get it stable @ 3.6, same cpu, RAM, all i swapped out was the mobo, I have had it @4300MHz for over a year now, so yes I would have to say look for a better used board for around the same price.

Not a bad board, but not a great board other. It overclocked great, but had terrible stability when running more than 6GB of RAM and SLI. I tried everything, and no combination of components would work. MSI tech support was absolutely useless. This board put me off of all future MSI motherboards.
