Help me Choose!!

i'm building a pc and choosing between Asus Maximus IV GENE-Z Z68 chipset ans Asus Maximus IV Extreme P67 chipset.. I'm gonna use 2 way SLI..

What mobo would you recommend?

ASUS P8Z68 V or V-pro, I myself prefer a full size motherboard, less likely to have spacing problems.

The P67 boards, the only one that I will recomend is the ASUS Sabertooth P67 rev 3, excellent board, 2 of my buds have them, they love em(though I would use it without the thermal shield as ASUS says you HAVE TO use the extra fan which doesnt come with it, so I would just take the thermla shield off :P)

You are overpaying for the ROG boards for the most part, when you can get a 99% as good motherboard for far less $ in the ASUS lineup. Generally -E -pro are better then deluxe :)

The Gene is apprently an excellent board, the maximus you listed, is quite $ obviously, and apprently had performance issues with it in a few different ways, such as sata flaking out, ethernet connectivity issues and such.

Me, I would go with the 3 I listed over the 2 you chose, but, if it HAS to be those 2, then Gene it is.

How about the ASUS P8Z68M-PRO?

I built my sons computer using the Gene, I think it is a great board. He does alot of gaming and the on-board X-Fi is a great touch. The M-ATX format is great as well, put it in a Coolermaster Storm Enforcer fits nicely in that case and looks sharp on the black background.
It is great for overclocking as well, bump up the CPU 25% and is stone stable on Corsair Hydro 50 cooler.
The option for SLI or Crossfire is also great. (although I lean primarly to SLI).

If i had to pick id go with the Asus maximux IV Exteme p67 chipset,i love monster size E-atx bords when i can find em.
Don't know about the chipsets,id have to research.......don't feel like it atm.

You know bigger is better mind set ~ i can pack more junk in their,im not happy till the pc comes in a 60 pounds and you need a fork lift to move it around.
Not really useful for lan party's though but i have other computers for that use. *grins*

They are both extremely good boards.

The Z68 Gene is newer though so it has a couple extra features, however it's only MATX, so unless you're specifically building a small form-factor PC, I wouldn't bother with it.

Go with the P67 or Z68 Extreme if you plan to use a full-tower case (or a mid-tower that supports EATX).

If I'm using antec six hundred II, will it be fitted for Z68 Gene?
