How did you order one from NCIX? Is it listed somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

You have to (literally) search for it: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...D%20PROCESSORS

Nope - I have plenty of raw power with both Q6600s for folding and video editing / encoding. The Q9450 will be a nce addition to the family.

Yah i saw the benchmarking and testing of q9450 and they said it is a good choice for video editing/encoding rather than use it for gaming like E8400

For those who can't wait any longer (me) you can always get a X3350. Its the Xeon equivalent of the Q9450.

Don't get the Xeon equivalents. They run hotter according most reviews on lower voltage.

and have most reviews tested dozens and dozens of chips from various batchs and dates?

i had an E6600 that ran hotter than most (L629B).

i have an E8400 that runs hotter than the other E8400s i have had (L746A vs L740As). it has been known for ever that various batches of C2D processors just run hotter than the norm.

would i not recommend them based on the temps...heck no, they are/were my best clockers.

perhaps there is a pattern forming in the Xeon reviews you have seen because they are similar batches...either way, absolutely don't let it deter your purchasing decision...they are the same bloody processor, regardless of what anyone tries to say.
