Default newb question

With a motherboard having 2x PCI-E x16 slots, Will that allow you to do both Nvidia dual video card support and ati. Or is it just what it specifies. And if it doesn't specify then what

Nvidia chipsets support SLI, and all other ones would be ATI Crossfire (except Skulltrail, which supports both). What kind of motherboard are you wondering about?
