Default Questions on X series chipsets

Ok, I am a serious gamer and do take pride in my computer and how its built. I'm curious what the x-series chipsets bring over the usual P and now Z series. I upgraded well before I wanted and thinking that I may upgrade to Ivy Bridge -E series CPUs come March and such.

I am looking at a possible ROG series MB.

More cores, more pcie lanes, better performance in general. Look for reviews here on launch day.
