Default Next Gen Ivy Bridge

Ok, there appears to be a new Ivy Bridge slated for release early as March (pretty much die shrink to 22nm). They are also going for a new chipset, so you think a new socket will be forthcoming? I am looking to upgrade to possibly Ivy Bridge in around Jan/Feb and wonder if it would just be worth it to wait for the next generation and keep saving and get bit more than I was originally going to get.

Besides LGA2011, no new sockets on the horizon for quite some time. LGA1155 should be the mainstream socket for a few more years at least.

Keep in mind that not changing the old socket doesn't mean you'll have backwards / forwards compatibility (as usual).
AnandTech - Intel's Ivy Bridge Architecture Exposed
You'll need a BIOS update to get a current 1155 board to work with IVB, and the new boards won't work with SNB unless AsRock does the same trick like it did for is "P67 Transformer" board.
