Doh! Yea, I definitely want to be able to adjust the memory timings and the VCore! What's another cheap board that can do that?

Doh, I just realize that a lot of the Z68 mATX boards don't support more than 2 DIMMs. Is the Asus Maximus IV GENE-Z the only decent board that will support 4 DIMMs?

I just ordered the i5 2500K and the ASUS Maximus IV GENE-Z Z68 LGA1155 mATX 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E4 SLI CrossFire HDMI USB3.0 SATA3 Motherboard - DirectCanada I always had great service from my previous ASUS boards. And this one looks pretty good as well.

I think that the motherboard is a great board. Since it doesn't have PCI slots or a AGP slot really has no draw back for me. I do have a SB X-FI card in my current. I won't be able to use. But the board comes with great onboard sound chip. I was worried. Because I realized after I ordered it. Being a mATX. I worried. But the board preforms well with O/C. I think its great. Has lots of USB connections as well!!!

It's a bit expensive. Are there cheaper alternatives that will perform as well?

In short, based on my reading around various other forums, the answer is 'no'. Not only is it easily the best MATX board, it beats the pants off something like 98% of the full ATX boards. It's best value for money at any size in 1155 right now. Not the cheapest out there but value, I say.

Well, I just got my new ASUS Maximus IV Gene-X board. And I love it. It's small. Yet functions great. Has a lot of features going for it. I am really impressed with it. Love the new BIOS. I recommend this board to anyone!!!!
