It's just a question of which features you want vs price, both use similarly adequate components.

I'd go with an Asus board personally... you might want to also consider the Maximus IV GENE-Z.

Although mATX that board has received great reviews.

The Asus. And yes I have one. Great board for the price. I don't trust MSI for motherboards anymore since their VRM fiasco

I have a Gibabyte, got it last week. I have since discovered that, for overclocking on this platform, they have the voltages and voltage options very screwed up. To get 1.425 at load, I am at 1.475 at idle (and it occasionally floats UP from there, have seen 1.5xx)...and because you can't run offset + LLC at the same time, there's nothing you can do about it. If I did this over, I'd go ASUS, they have proper implementation on this issue.

That said, it's a nicely featured board and stable...I haven't had a single BSOD, have been as high as 4.9 so far on a 2500K. My previous 2 high end systems, 1 AMD 1 Intel, were Gigabyte boards that are still running rock solid.

Check out the ASRock Extreme 3. Seems to be excellent motherboard for $160.

The Extreme 3 gen 3 Z68 has bios issues. Stay away from it. Overclocking is hindered.

I've always been partial to ASUS. Everytime I tried to branch out and try another manufacturer I've been disappointed. But then again, who am I to say what you should use? Nonetheless, I really do like the new ASUS Z68 board I have.
