Default Asus P6T Deluxe

Hi all,

Well my replacement mobo finally arrived on Wednesday.

Since it is a new board, I tend to sneak up on the O/Cing slowly.

My 6 core Xeon is a 3066 MHz CPU stock.
I have now O/C'd it 28% to 3912 MHz (24X at 163 fsb).

I will play a little more, but just about as high as I want to go for folding.

There comes a place where the heat vs the points start to conflict.

I may try for 4008 MHz (24X at 167 fsb), not sure yet.

The CPU is supposed to do 4100 MHz tops, so will be close.

Take care.........

Hi Jake,

I did a stupid, and bent the hell out of the pins in the ZIF socket.
Too much damage to straighten.

Boy that was a stupid and costly mistake.

This was and is the best board I have ever owned.
I am tempted to get another one for a spare.

Take care............

Hi all,

Well, 24X @ 167 FSB = 4008 MHz now.

Think I will hold for a while

That is a 31% clock, not bad for an old man.

Take care.......

Hi all,

Well, the second mobo went out, so bye bye Asus.

You used to make good boards, just crap now.

Anybody recommend a good new LGA1366 board - Gigabyte, MSI, etc?

Take care............

Hi yycraven,

Thanx for the info.

But after two identical new boards going gunny, I can not agree Asus is still a good board.
Good boards work more than two weeks.

Take care, and again, thanx for the info!!.............

Thats frustrating Lee. While I don't blame you for ditching Asus with the luck you have had, my P6T regular has been folding away for about two years 24/7 (it gets a reboot every month or so). The other Asus has been working well too.

I wonder if they sent you back a wonky board?

Hi Chris,

Probably the same board.

I may rant and rave a little, but Asus does make the best boards, so I won't drop them.

As you say, it is frustrating tho, to say the least.

Besides, here in the States, we have the 3 strikes rule.

Take care.......

Well I had Asus boards most of the time, but now I like the Gigabyte boards. they seem to be very good even when OCing.
I have the 3 strike rule as well, but that goes for women...
Even the Evga boards are good.
