Supply is limited best I can tell. My regular store PC Canada was asking 210$, I had ordered during restocking got it yesterday. They expect it could be up to 1 - 2 weeks before they get new stock, price will likely increase too. I noticed other shops have been uping the price since everyone is running out of stock.

Yeah, gotta hate that old "supply & demand" thingy..... :)

I was actually surprised at how low these were priced originally considering how well recieved they were by the enthusiast community.

Last week the Q6600 had free shipping for the entire order as well as a $259 sale price.

I was on the fence; a E8400 or a Q6600 ??? My order was a big one, all the parts for a new build so I bit on the Quad for the shipping deal and sale price.

Now the shipping deal is removed but the sale price is still there on the sale page.

NCIX flips and flops on all their deals I see hmmmm...

I guess you have to be lucky, timely or decisive .... or all three to take advantage eh?

Do you have a need for a quad? Will you take advantage of a quad? Will you find yourself using more than 2 cores?

Answer that and you'll know your answer :)

A quad would be great if you do the above and have lots of patience because you'll end up waiting for patches/drivers/updates for it to be optimized.

Wtf?

Quads run quite fine without patching or drivers or optimizing...

Obviously, if you're not running any applications that utilize more than one or two cores, you won't see a huge benefit, but for Unreal Engine 3 games there are definitely benefits (they utilize all four cores), & for anyone who does lots of video/photo work & editting, a quad is ideal.
