Could someone tell me which CPU is better/faster?

I have 2 CPU's and need to know what one would be best for my main PC, I'm a heavy user.

CPU #1: Core 2 duo E4500 @ 2.20GHz
CPU #2: Pentium(R) Dual-Core E6500 @ 2.93GHz


I ask because even though the dual-core 2.93GHz I think the Core 2 duo is more efficient and will run faster but I don't know these things so I need some help from someone that knows.

clock speed alone makes up for any cache differences,if any. its a c2d at hart as well. just newer.

though looking at your specs, perhaps a new mobo + 1156 i3 or 1155 i5 would do wonders, along with a nice 6950 or 560 ti :)

If money wasn't an issue I would love to upgrade.

This past year I built a PC for my wife, another for my daughter (7 yrs old), another one for work and one for multimedia to hook up to my TV with a TV tuner card and all, so I can get rid of cable.... That's enough money spent, my main PC has to wait, besides, I just upgraded it last year.

One of my customers brought me a PC with a bad HDD. She didn't want to put the money into repairing it so she gave it to me for parts and the core 2 duo is in it so it's a free CPU. I'll take the core 2 duo for me and replace it with a P4 I have laying around then put in a HDD I also have laying around and sell the PC so I'm doing real good on this one.

The dual-core is already in my main PC.

So I have both but thanks anyways.
