Default motherboard replacement

So im thinking of replacing my motherboard and i want to know if i need to buy a new copy of windows 7?

As long as Windows 7 is installed on only one operating machine, Microsoft is usually fine with it as long as its not an OEM copy. You may have to re-activate it and go through the phone activation, but it'll activate if its a legal copy.
