Intel HD Graphics with Graphics Card

New to the site  ... heres my Question.

I currently have Core i3 2100 on my new build - which has an integrated GPU. I'm not too happy with the performance I get from the integrated GPU. if I were to buy a Graphics Card and add it to my PC, will the integrated GPU boost my new Graphics card in any way???

If not, the new core processors with integrated graphics are a waste of money.

With the way multiple GPU performance boosts work, the integrated GPU would slow down your discrete graphics, so no you won't get a performance boost.

That said, the integrated GPU is useful for things like lowering idle and 2d power consumption as well as increasing video transcoding performance. (although most discrete graphics can do so as well)

Thanks!

So there is no way of getting them to work together? :shok:

Not "together" but through technologies like Lucid's Virtu, you can get the best of both worlds.
