Exclamation AMD Bulldozer - Zambezi FX-8170 Early Release Rumour

Probably everyone knows by now that the release date for the first wave of AMD Zambezi FX-series CPUs is September 19, 2011. However, there’s a rumour in the overclockers.com.au forums that while the release for the first set of Zambezi FX CPUs (FX-8150, FX-8100, FX-6100 and FX-4100) is indeed September 19th, the second wave consisting of FX-8170(3.9GHz), FX-8120, FX-6120 and FX-4120 will be released in October 2011, not Q1 2012 as originally expected. The poster claims that he has inside information from one of the motherboard manufacturers that provided him with a new roadmap from July 20th as opposed to the April roadmap that everyone has been using and has become familiar with. Another post says that the first (FX-8150) wave will feature B3 stepping while the second wave (FX-8170) will feature C0 stepping. I'll probably get the 8150 and continue my preference of having the first powerhouse in AMD's most monumental releases (Phenom II X4 940, Radeon HD 4870). Although, I must say, having C0 stepping instead of B3 is VERY tempting to wait less than a month. :D

I'll be the first to admit that I know as little about this release as everyone else but I really think that AMD would be shooting themselves in the foot if they did this. It would cause people to not buy the first Zambezi series in anticipation of the next. Any thoughts my fellow Hardware Canucks?

Well like I said, I don't know how factual this is. It might be a complete crock but I thought it was at least interesting to read so I thought I'd pass on the info from our commonwealth brethren. Even if it just gives you a chuckle at least it's not a boring read...lol
