Recommend a 1155 motherboard Hi folks, Been a while since I've followed the latest motherboard revisions... specially with the Z68s and all that. I figure you guys would be more up-to date with this stuff. This is what I would be doing with it. - No SLI/Crossfire - I will be overlocking - USB3 - SATA III Been thinking in pairing it with a 2500k and about 8GB or G.SKILL memory. Any suggestions? |

Don't even get me started on Gigabyte.. NCIX.com - Buy MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) P67 ATX LGA1155 DDR3 2PCI-E16 3PCI-E 2PCI SLI CrossFireX SATA3 USB3 Motherboard - MSI/MicroStar - P67A-GD65 (B3) - in Canada These are great boards. |
2nd rec for Z68 UD4. Cant beat that price |
The special ended on the Gigabyte boards yesterday I think... Main differences on P67 vs Z68? |
The main advantages of Z68 over P67 are HD caching and igpu. Basically you buy a small SSD and use it as cache for your system. Saves $$ bc you can have SSD speeds with just a small SSD and you still get the space with your other drives. Other than that you have Virtu which can save a little power by using the boards igpu when idle. I would probably go with P8Z68-V Pro or Z68XP-UD4 if you want a good Z68 board in the $190-200 range. |
How good would that be when already have an SSD? Still, the price for that UD4 was amazing. Any way they could honor that? PMing Linus? |
if you already have one dont bother..unless its a small one and youve run out of space :) yes..it was. probably not. |
If your SSD is 60GB or smaller then it is worth it to get Z68 and set up SSD caching. If you have a large SSD I wouldnt worry too much about Z68, P67 would be fine as well. |
Alrighty sounds good.. Out of these selections. - MSI P67CS-C43 - ASUS P8P67 - MSI P67A - Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3 What do u think would be the best choice? |
