THIS. One small step for AMD, one slightly larger step for consumers lol. For the price, this thing will definitely become a solid HTPC contender. I would definitely consider buying one in the future.

Well my wife is using an old AM2 system with a 3650 AGP card, I think I found her new system! She doesn't play any games more demanding then Angry birds so this it total overkill but it should work well for what she does.

Awesome review! I like the little detail where you mentioned the Intel motherboard - as an owner of a DP67DE I agree that they're pretty efficient.

There's finally an IGP that can rightfully say it can run Crysis
I personally have no use for this platform but I can see it coming in handy for anyone replacing an older computer with the price/performance when it comes to heavy web browsing + multimedia applications. Now if F@H CPU+GPU could run on Linux with this platform I'd drop my home server for this in a second because I don't want to run three Sandy Bridge rigs in my house

Do you plan to put together a low-power / IGP platform test rig? The wattages you're getting out of every one of those IGP tests are below the 80+ testing range for that PSU:

Nice review. Was hoping for a little more from the CPU, but its still a great IGP. Definitely will serve some people very well.

Any chance on an A6 review anytime soon? What about a A6 mobile? Look forward to any more up updates and reviews you get done.

Most probably AMD will conquer the OEM market and cheap/office system market, which probably is the most profitable. Except the server market, maybe.

Very impressed with this chip from AMD. Will be looking forward to having one for an HTPC in the near future.

...is this really what the retail box looks like?

NCIX.com - Buy AMD A8-3850 APU W/ AMD Radeon 65XX HD GFX Quad Core Processor Socket FM1 2.9GHZ 4MB 100W Retail Box - AMD - AD3850WNGXBOX - in Canada

It looks like a mix of XFX and Scythe's packaging... flashy! It's nothing like the tame designs of CPU boxes that I'm used to.
