As for a task manager shot...that's not really necessary, it is most important though that when you run these benchies....you switch off whatever you don't need! Try to make XP as lean as possible....tweak the crap out of it...and you'll see millisecs make the difference.

On my next install of XP I'm going to use nlite as you tell it to only install the components of XP you want, but you can set it to do an unassisted install, it will load all your device drivers for you as well.

Task manager - 1tanker wanted to know how tweaked my XP was. The simple answer is not at all. I had AVG, G15 software, VMware services, other stuff running in system tray. I'll kill all those processes before I do my superPi runs tonight. Then you can do a 4Ghz comparison of the e8400 vs e6850. I'm glad I got 4ghz out of this chip/mem combo, I'd be ecstatic if I got up to 4.2 with a $30 HSF.

Super PI 32m 4Ghz run ![]() By sugarjonesing Super PI 32M 4.1Ghz ![]() By sugarjonesing I tried tightening memory timings but then wasn't stable. 455x9 is the highest stable I've been able to hit so far. Wow, doesn't memory make a big difference here. Just looked back at Prof's timings. I know this processor is faster clock for clock, but his system is significantly faster for SuperPi.

SUGARJ.....PLEASE fix your imageshack links so we can compare!!!! w00000t!!! LOL....hurry! Well I guess it's the memory running faster....and then XP...I'll post a taskmanager shot in a different/new thread later when I come home...to compare tweaked versions of XP... Or if I may give you some advice now...MAKE SURE.....all unnecessary items are shutdown....no AV, no Spyware, no printer stuff....no screensavers, no system/program trays.....and so on. Also make sure your not running taskmanager/CPU-Z/Everest/Sandra/Core Temp or any of that stuff to 'monitor' your benchmarking....you should switch that on later after you finish your run.

You can also host your images here using the vb image tag at the top.... :)

Thanks for the image hosting hint. I cleaned out all the unnecessary processes I could. Only thing running was CPU-Z. ![]() ![]() Let me know if these aren't legible. The 4.0 Ghz run was 14:24.375, the 4.1 was 14:10.361. Random reboots are usually vCore related, are they not?
