boards don't have the GTL Ref settings that the higher-priced boards do... which also aids in quad-clocking.

Seriously though... if it'll post @ 4G, I'm thinking that 3.7 / 3.8 stable with acceptable temps is a possibility on air........... :) You're gonna have to at least make the attempt at a few super-pi runs at the 4G mark....

Been doing a little tweaking tonight. I was able to get through the 4 GHz barrier very easily. But check out my Vdroop. Set at 1.4V, reported back at 1.34V? I should be able to push this higher I think. And it's not just CPU-Z reporting that level. Speedfan and EasyTune verify it. I think I can safely bump this up as my max temp under load is 43 degrees.

Well sswilson...here you go.... a 1M run..... ![]() Now I'm gonna do a 32M run and compare it to SugarJ ![]() Ps. Why do none of my checksum validations go through?? I've tried like 6 times now...none of them work! ![]()

And here is the 32M run: ![]() And OMG.....I was thinking, are those E8XXX such an improvement over the E6XXX series? I see SugarJ's time at 9m 14.813 and mine only does 13m 06.640! Wow....and then I realize he didn't finish the run yet! So SugarJ...could you please post one of those runs? Actually post them both, but see if you could run them at 4GHz...that would be nice for comparison....![]() Ouch...actually...if you check out loop 15 in SugarJ's run of 32M you'll see he's at 9m 14.813....now if you look at my loop 15 you'll see 8m 02.140. His CPU is running faster but my mem is running faster. It looks like memory makes a HUGE difference here....Any comments? BTW...I love my board....!!!

Yeah it does make a difference, but not that much. You're running 50MHz faster, and tighter timings(though he's got 50MHz CPU on you) ...but i suspect there's more to it than that. I'd like to see his memory subtimings(and how "tweaked"...or "untweaked" his system is...background services,etc.).Your 1M time looks spot-on for 4GHz... so i think his is a little slow... versus yours being fast/GHz. *** no offense intended to either of you's*** |

This is great stuff! Honestly, I had no idea that this little board had that much potential. My Quad @ 475FSB is rock-stable w/Prime95 8 hours. Back to folding for today, then some more benching tonight. Thanks for the info Tanker, I'll see if I can break that barrier. Doc, those are great numbers. Now jump into water-cooling and push that E6850 until it screams.... I'll post my 32M runs tonight with the Quad to compare. Sugar, happy to know that your Ram issue is over, and the vdroop is well known on that board - keep on pushing that E8400. I need more numbers until I receive my Q9450 / Patriots PC3-12800s - my order is at the Shipping stage @ NCIX... edit: I forgot to add that the DS3L indeed does not have CPU GTLREF adjustment, even with the latest BIOS. Oddly enough, the last built I did using the Gigabyte GA-G31-S2M (mATX) did....

![]() What amazes me is the voltage difference...his runs at 1.34 and mine at 1.50V. That is in both cases after compensation! Crazy!

I got my 6750 to post at 4.2ghz with 1.475 set in bios on this board, but my RAM crapped out and am still waiting on the RMA set... I want to play too!!!
