Does anyone know if there a way to check your NB and SB temps on this mobo with just software? The only temp I can find is a generic "motherboard temp" with hwmonitor and speedfan.

For the NB I only rely on the BIOS info.

Actually I use Everest and I've found that it's pretty accurate! If you don't like that....get a laser temp. gun or a type K probe temp.meter!

Can anyone confirm if this DS3L will recognize the e3110 out of the box without a bios upgrade? I don't have an older 775 cpu kicking around that I can flash with.

I can tell you mine booted to XP with my E8400 with the F7 bios, then I immediately flashed the new F8a bios.
