could be your chip
could be your ram
try 2 sticks
voltage looks fine for the FSB
I was never able to go higher that 425FSB at 9x multi, but managed 490FSB at 8x multi
Follow 1Tanker's recommendation of playing with the PCIe freq - for 490FSB, it needed to be at 105MHz. Don't forget to raise the PCIe volts +.1 or even +.2

SB is damn hot

Really? Maybe on your board....but not on mine. Does it like get hot to the touch or what? Even at +.3V nothing really changes in temps on mine....

Yeah.... very hot to the touch. I'm gonna put a thermistor on it and find out(i'm guessing high 50's low 60's C). I did on my NB... and with a room temp of 24-25C.. tooling around in windows.. it stays around 34-35C. When i'm pushing it, it hits 37s-38s.. and i've yet to see 40C. I have a 120x25mm(~68cfm IIRC) fan wedged between the back of my DVD-RAM, and my PSU...blowing down. It works nicely..gets the RAM perfectly(and stays cool) and catches the NB and SB... even though it's blowing down slightly warmed air.

Thanks again for your replies guys. I have tried putting on 2 Gb ram stick and the fsb wall is still the same even with 1 gb i can't go over 430 with any multi without crash.

I have increased the pcie freq to 110 and pcei volt to +.3 but that didn't make any difference. My fsb wall is still the same.

I am starting to think it's the ram holding me back. What do u guys think?

I would still try taking out 2 DIMM's, and running Memtest 86+... as Biff said, your RAM is likely holding you back.
I have the antec 900 case which has the psu at the bottom and the psu fan blows right on the sb. It's not much but it is working for now.

Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket Heatsink + Fan for this mobo? I'm thinking about spending about $50 max on the HSF + mx-2 paste and don't want to have to take out my mobo to mount. I got a CM 690 case

I'm thinking about taking my new Q6600 to no more than 3.0GHz. Will this require a new Northbridge heatsink as well? Will I need more case fans?

The AC7 Pro is around $20.00 and it comes with MX-1 or MX-2 paste pre-installed.

Do you estimate that it will keep a Q6600 under 60 on load @ 3.0GHz? I read that the AC7 is pretty weak and not for any OCing

I know the AC7 can handle a lot of heat, but I don't know if it can handle that much.
