Default multicore CPU

okay i have a friend who says that multicore cpu's clockspeed is equal to the clockspeed*amount of cpu's. I'm quite sure thats wrong, i just want confirmation. and if im wrong... damnit xD

It's pretty silly to say it that way now, but when ALL apps are heavily multithreaded it might make sense. Besides, what bearing does frequency have on performance anymore? It's useless for cross comparing products that aren't exactly the same in all respects but frequency.
