Default i7 2600k overclocking what is this...

First of all what is with this new shitty bios even in the advanced mode this thing i don't even know what to call it. it's like a monstrosity to me second of all WTF is with the over clocking this thing is beyond making me rage i change my multiplier to 40 for a 4.0ghz oc and nothing happens nothing at all the CPU doesn't change speeds at all what is this am i missing something here also as soon as i change the multiplier turbo mode gets forced on. I miss over clocking my i5 760 that was so easy to OC i thought they made this simpler my IQ goes down every time i go into this bios

1) UEFI bios are awesome in so many ways and much better than the old style
2) Have you tried loading up your processor?

I have had no problems overclocking my 2600k (only 4GHz right now), but I noticed what enaberif mentioned, it only becomes active once a load is applied to the processor.

Edit: I just checked your specs, and I have the same motherboard, I quite like the new bios. It is as easy as you think it is, trust me, I'm a complete overclocking noob.

Hmmm, that's very odd. All I did was change the multiplier and the voltage, and make sure that C1E, C3 and C6 (I believe these last two are correct) were enabled, along with turbo mode (auto enabled like you mentioned), and cpuid showed 4GHz when I was folding.

i mean my i5 760 is getting way higher bench marks than this computer... it's pretty frustrating

If your multi is dropping and you dont want it to then disable C1E and speedstep.

What are you using to benchmark these things?

Also try to tighten up your memory and go from there.
