Default What's a better cpu config for a server.

I was wondering what would be a better server configuration, 2 single core Xeons @ 3.0ghz or a server with 1 dual core @ 3 ghz. The price's might be different but i'm just looking at cheap <300$ refurbished computers and servers.

Well a dedicated minecraft server for me and my friends. A thing to keep us all together when we go off to university and college next year. I heard though that the server doesn't support multithreading (even though I've run it off of a pentium D before and it was going at 100%) so in that case I would use the other cpu/core to run a mild website thing or irc chat for the group of us.

Early gen Intel core 2, and the D945 is the processor in the computer I'm using right now, the Intel Pentium D @ 3.4ghz.
