My System Specs

Default holy.... 10 Cores for INtel CPU.... you need to have $$$$$$$$$$$$

Intel has now expanded its server line-up with 29 new, 32nm Xeon processors and ten of them feature no less than 10 cores and 20 threads. Of course, AMD still has one up with its 12-core Opterons but Intel is closing in on core count.

Detailed below, Intel's 10-core Xeon chips go from 2.0 GHz to 2.4 GHz in terms of frequency, have 24MB or 30MB of L3 cache, a 105W or 130W TDP, and come in an FC-LGA8 (LGA 771) package. As you'd expect, more cores mean more money (BEd: and mo' problems?) so the cheapest of the 10-core lot is $2,558, while the top of the tops costs $4,616.

Trying to figure out if this is actually LGA 771 or LGA 1567. Thus far I can't find many actual 1567 motherboards. There's that picture of the quad-socket 1567 mobo floating around which I've seen, but unable to identify.

LGA771 naming would cause a lot of confusion and problems I would imagine. I wouldn't expect a newer processor with 10 cores to have less than a thousand pins really. 1567 sounds about right.. who knows til they start being sold.

It would be so nice to test a server with one of these in it :) I wonder how long till hosts start offering these.
