Default Sandy Bridge experience

So I put together a i7 2600 system and I have to say this .. I'm sorely disappointed in these chips.

I mean don't get me wrong they run well and the UEFI bios is pretty nice.

But my experience with these guys is that unless your buying into the K processors there is no point in these.

If you can't afford a i7 2600K processor go for the 2500K and overclock it.

Oh and they run pretty cool too.. This i7 2600 @ 4.2ghz is running @ 60 under full load with a H70

Why on earth would you buy a 2600 if you planned on OCing?

Hah. No plans to overclock.. it was just a "what can we do moment" and realized you can't overclock that well on a 2600 :P

Although my SB experience hasn't started yet,

I bought a 2500K+ Noctua NH-U12P for $249 from NCIX...great bundle. (ME WANTZ 4.6GHz-4.8GHz!!!)
I grabbed a P8P67 DELUXE PM'ed to $221...

Gonna wait for next pay check to grab a SLI setup...

My Oldie Q9550 will "migrate" to my daughter's gaming rig...the real 'Ol E6420 will "migrate" to the parts bin...(might make an HTPC out of it?)

I'll say this they do run cooler and more efficient. This @ 4.2 is running 60 at full load which is VERY respectable.

I love my 2600k system. Without a doubt the most hassle free overclock I've ever had. With a 40% overclock too.

My only annoyance with SB was having to swap out my board for a B3.. and unfortunately it proved a huge headache that is finally resolved.

The platform itself has been wonderful to work with.. running @ 4.7ghz with very little effort.

So what exactly are you disappointed with? You kinda of just went on a rant with any real explanation. Were you expecting the processor to make you sandwiches?

Lets think about this.

Every Intel chip up till SB had potential to overclock very well.

Now SB comes along and the ones that only do any good overclocking are the K series.

That is my rant.
