I was wondering if buying the Zalman ZN-NBF47 Fanless Aluminum Northbridge cooler would be a good replacement for the stock NB cooler on the GA-P35-DS3L mother board. Or if just mounting a fan over the stock NB cooler would work just as good or better. Thanks in Advance! |

I have 2 of these boards, and have tried it 4 ways: Stock with a "tower style" cpu cooler: 43C Noctua uh6 NB cooler: 35C Noctua + scyth 40mm fan: 29C Stock with scyth 40mm: 32c In retrospect, I would say go with just the $3 scyth mini kaze fan, 32C is totally fine and the fan is like 8db, cant even hear it... Also, if you have the stock CPU cooler, or any "downdraft style" cooler that blows air down onto the mobo/chipset, then it may be fine the way it is as a passive cooler. From what I know (not much) I would say its fine as long as its under 40C (probably fine at a lot more)

Thanks for all the replys guys. I am planning on installing my E6400 C2D on one of these boards and over clocking it, the only real reason i wanted that NB heat sink is because it looks nice and would look good on that board. ![]() But i will just order a fan instead. Thanks for all the input guys!

I am assembling my first system now. It's a DS3L. How do you fix the little fan on the northbridge? I have a Scynthe Mini Kaze. Thanks, JES |

| Just use some zipties! Get creative? I would just use zipties whereever I can. I think you could probably screw it in too. See what the other guys here are using. I dont have one myself, but I have used a few
