Default Sandy Bridge Launch: Announcement

Hello All,

As some of you may know, Intel's Sandy Bridge architecture will be launching tonight at midnight. It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that we WILL NOT have a review up when the NDA lifts - a first in the last 18 months.

The reasoning behind this is quite simple: we budget time according to a given launch window and Intel decided to pull up the date from January 4th to tonight.

Because of this , we have not had the time to finish the review up to our standards. We are willing to take a loss in traffic rather than deviate from the content you guys EXPECT from us.

Expect the FULL review tomorrow AM.

Again, we apologize.

I would rather have a quality HWC review 1 day "late" than resort to rushed job due to premature release of a NDA.

Is Intel trying to steal the thunder from another company by releasing NDA early or is it easier than trying to brow beat the retailers from showing/selling Sandybridge parts?

Sorry I was editing when you replied SKYMTL - now it makes sense, I wouldn't want to announce on the same day as my competitor.
It kicks the crap out of having a NDA date (from the review site's perspective) when the manufacturer can change the date when it sees fit.

I think so, yes. AMD is launching parts on the 4th and Intel may not have wanted their new architecture compared to well-priced AMD offerings.

You don't need to apologize SKY. Do your best and we expect a high quality review (even it's one day later).

No apology necessary. The quality of your reviews are worth the wait.

Wait... does this mean that SB mobo/cpu sales have been greenlit?

Better to see a review done right than rushed, so no worries.
