Good Old Socket 775 mobos with good chipsets (P35,P45,X48) are becoming REALLY hard to find new. Buying second-hand is pretty much the only option left.

That good 775 stuff is still expensive. You could grab a decent i5 combo for cheap, instead of putting more cash on a EOL platform...
For around $350-$400, you could get a i5 760+mobo+4 GB of RAM...better buy...on the AMD side of things, a 1055T 6-cores with a decent mobo/Ram combo...

Don't put money on S775...unless you have REALLY good reasons (doubtfull, but possible).
S775 was, and still is good (look at my system specs), but a thing of the past, and the prices are too high to fork more cash that route IMHO.
