Thinking about dropping some money on a new cpu.

I was looking at the x3440 it looks like a really depend cpu for the money. For $235 i don't think there is another CPU that has the same features for the same price range.

Any personally experiences?

hey dude. well its a good 25-30 percent cheaper than the next hyperthreaded quad. you get this cpu if you need the hp.

whats your current system, and what will you do with it? speak in percentages, like 80 percent gaming, 20 percent email.etc.

my current system? is needed upgrading. 780i, q9450

this cpu is gonna be paired up with a EVGA P55 SLi, at the moment i'm busy with school but once winter/summer holidays come i'd probably gaming most of the time.

i know HT won't have much effect on games at the this time, but i mutli task a lot, fold and have virtual machines running. So i need the extra threads.

go for it. what gpu and power supply do you have? could you get a giga ud3/4p? better board. the cheap p55 sli evga's are good with quads.
now, if you have money to buy just one thing, better off get a better gpu. at 1920 and above it will be the one determining factor. below that, cpu will make more difference.

youre good there..time to get a better lcd though. look for a sammy, or dell in special(at dell). 23/24 inch 1920x1080.
