I really would have suggested stepping up to the HX line from the TX even if that meant going to 850w (which is still beefy). Your mobo just screams for the HX quality :D

I'm curious what your needs are that you have such an odd configuration of HDDs...

HX and TX are the same. HX is modular and TX is not, but the inside of either power supply is identical.

Yes, I would have really liked modular. I *was* going to get the HX1000, but it was almost double the price of the TX950 on newegg, so I thought I'd save a few few bucks and just find my own way of dealing with the cables (which i think I did alright).

As for my hard drives, it's a long story. The short of it is: I've never had a hard drive fail on me since the first one I bought in grade 11. I have a 250GB that I bought for my first computer, then a second that I got for the same one (neither of these are in my rig now because they are PATA). Then I upgraded to a 500GB Barracuda in grade 12 when I built my first 'real' computer. Then I bought the 2 externals because they were on sale at Futureshop and I wanted backup space. That 500GB and the 2 externals lasted me until 2 years ago when I bought the two 1TB WD drives and RAIDed them for some serious storage space, and upgraded my server's 40GB HDD to a 1.5TB WD Green which TD has for sale. The reason it's in my gaming rig right now is it has some backup files on it and i want to do a backup of it too (Acronis True Image doesn't work on linux...).

I guess it could be worse.
I'm also an audiophile who likes to muck around with my home theatre gear.
Thankfully pre-amps, power-amps, speakers, turntables etc etc etc don't change very often, and can last many many years. (this is important when shelling out more than $10k for a pair of speakers listening to quality vinyl)
Though I have to admit, since the advent of blu-ray I have been spending money more frequently testing out new players (same as when testing computer gear).

Then there's that wonderful wonderful addiction to cars (restoring classics, or swapping engines creating hotrods out of beaters).
