Getting a used q9xxx series for 150$ is tough, unless it's a q9400. I just recently bought a used q9550, it was 200$ shipped. I spent a few weeks trying to get either a 9450, 9550 or 9650, and all offers were 220$ + for the most part. Ebay 225$+, and the ones below 200$ were obviously gone within minutes from someone needing cash quickly.

If you're patient and willing to surf this forum and others like anandtech and hardforums, you can probably get a good price, but be ready to jump on any offer that comes your way, cause they go fast. It doesn't help that brand new these chips hit upwards of 300$+.

Thanks all for the input. Was thinking of getting a Q9550 a couple months ago, but leaning towards just a Q8300 or Q6600 so I can put some money into some new software. As said, not overclocking, and the suggestions seem to point that as the main reason to track down a Q6600, so more than likely going to grab a new Q8300 unless someone can talk me out of it heheh.

Who's selling the Q6600 for $100? On ebay, right?

After all is said and done, what is the additional fees? Shipping of about $10?

I'm wondering what is the better deal, price/performance-wise:

1) Q6600 - only if I can find it at $100

2) E3300 - don't laugh... at least, it's new and you know it hasn't been overclocked or used - $50 + tax/shipping

3) used LGA 775 cpu???? Which? there's a E6850 for $60 (overclocked briefly)

I'm looking to put the processor in a P45 Asus mobo. I have a Q6600 in a P35 mobo currently and wouldn't you put the Q6600 in the P45 if you bought a E3300 Celeron cpu as the 'extra cpu?' I started to speculate, if I get a used Q6600, it's twice the price of the E3300 but if the extra performance is worth it, it goes into the P45 mobo and no cpu swapping necessary. That way, both these old machines have Q6600 processors!

Problem is I need to get another storage drive so that's why I'm doing a juggling act, financially. ;=/ Arghhhh...

Well, if I got a E8400 or Q6600, for e.g., I can just add it to the P45 Asus board and leave the P35 mobo alone. That's assuming I could find one of those processors (used) for $100. It would be easier than swapping (if I bought the Celeron E3300 for the P35 mobo). However, it'll cost me an extra $50 min. but maybe that is worth it? I dunno... 'Really sucks to be pondering an extra $50 but I'll need more computer stuff soon! :)

Is the Q9400 for $150 a good deal?

Other than that, the best deal I've found is Q6600 for $100.

Comments? Recommendations? Donations of a Q9xxx processor?
