Question 720m vs 840m

what performance increase are there if any between the 720 1.6gh w/6mb cache and the 840 1.86gh 8mb cache bot hin games and multitasking/big programs and so on. (1920x1080 res) (6 gigs of ddr3)

those numbers pre turbo boost or whatever its called

^^^ Wouldn't imagine "in game" would be a huge difference.....it would boil down to what Mobile GPU its teamed up with....

5850 or 5870 probably the 5850


but omg i wish i could afford one of those sagers with the 5870 crossfire x lol

High end notebooks with crazy fast gpu's = heat !!!

I have an Asus with 720M and GTX 260M.....runs most games geat (with lower settings), but GPU steady's out at 92c.......stable mind you, have never had a crash on this thing in almost a year.....and it was only $1400 ;)

Don't buy a laptop to game with exclusively... It's a waste of money and time, really really it is!
It's cheaper to buy an awesome desktop, with a medium powered lappy. One that will run your games just not maxed...

its not 100% gaming its just i need a laptop for school and i cant get a desktop and a lap top

but i cant afford to go balls out and get a custom desktop replacement either.

I was in your position and ended up getting both. It was sometimes annoying moving around my desktop so that i could use my laptop but i'm glad i did it. I would've hated the battery life on my laptop and known that it was always going to be way slower than a far cheaper gaming desktop.
