Yeah, hold out, considering you have your current CPU overclocked to a good speed it's not like you need a quad core yet. Save your money for now, as the new stuff should be coming out in a few months it would be a waste at this point!

what the heck? geeks saying dont upgrade? i ditched my x2@2.6ghz a month ago for a quad and its AMAZING! i mean, it makes almost no difference.
no seriously; you read that right
95% of the time, it feels exactly the same. i guess i can tell when i'm running CAD and winrar and 18 firefox tabs and virus scanning and copying 10 gigs from one hd to the other. but just barely.
the best choice i made was ditching my 7800 gt's in sli. benchies put them slightly behind my 8800gts 320mb, but in reality its so much nicer. no more effing around with sli. textures look so much nicer and fps lows arent so bad.
stick with the x2 at least until the end of Q1 '08. let the 45nm's and the 9xxx's come out and get over the launch price like belgolas said.

Ok so I did a little research and have decided to wait till the E8000 series come out, in Jan 08. Going to buy the E8400 at 3.0GHz, from what I read they can overclock like crazy on air, and the prices look good as well. so thanks you guys im going Intel.
Going to sell my current AMD AM2 cpu and mobo. I have already taken them out of my tower and cleaned them up.
using my old laptop now to just check emails and browse the forums. this site is saying the E8400 hit 4 GHz on air well we will see I guess when I buy one. Intel's 45nm Wolfdale E8400 tested :: TweakTown
