Within reason, anyway. The new generation of processors are coming with some really lousy multipliers, and he doesn't want to have to spend all that saved money on higher-clocking RAM.

It appears my budget got cut down by the wife cause I apparently forgot we have to buy Christmas presents for family. Budget is now $700 including tax and shipping.

I decided I'll go the SFF route and to cut down on costs going AMD by getting the Athlon64 X2 6000+ 3.0GHz.

I'm stuck on deciding on a few motherboards and I have been researching but all of the stuff I've been reading is just merging together in my head. Ugh Information overload.

The motherboards are down to these. Prices are from NCIX.

ASUS M2A-VM - $72.06 (God that PCB is fugly)
Biostar TF7025-M2 GF7025 - $77.35
Biostar TForce TA690GAM2 - $77.49
Gigabyte GA-MA69GM-S2H - $86.87

I'd go with Gigabyte but..it supports only 1.8V DDR2 DIMMs...that's tricky, you gotta be careful. When I bought my sistem I had some little problems with the M2N-E and the Ocz ram's..if you do a search on the net you'll find that on most m2n-e mobo's they will fail..but heh the luck..

He's going for AMD, not Intel.

Maybe not I'm so tempted to get the E6750 on sale right now for $195 @ NCIX

Well you were in your last reply! If you do, which mobo will be your choice?

The Athlon 6000+ is $169 so for an extra $25.00 I can get the E6750 and get better results overclocking. I'm still going SFF so as for the motherboard, if I go Intel it will be the Gigabyte GA-G33M-DS2R.

I apologize for the confusion all, the only for sure thing is the RAM which I already bought. Crucial Ballistix Tracers PC-6400 @ NCIX for $83.00
