My System Specs

Default Enabling AHCI on a EVGA 750i FTW and is it really required for SSD

Has anyone here been able to get AHCI enabled on their 750i board? and like the title says, is it really required for ssd performance to be in line with specs??

I've searched other forums and it looks like a BIOS flash is needed but to tell you the truth flashing a BIOS scares the out of me.

If anyone has any experience they'd like to share...

I don't have the board but I believe the option you are looking for is on the integrated peripherals page. Should be under IDE functions, the very first option once you select integrated peripherals.

I think nForce boards run "AHCI" by default. The only option is to switch it over to RAID mode should you want to run that. At least on my 650i SLI board, there's no AHCI option, only to enable RAID.

But if I recall, nForce chipsets in general do not support TRIM. Intel chipsets are the only ones that are confirmed as supporting TRIM.
