My System Specs

Default AM3 board 890FX or 790X

not too familair with AMD system, havn't touched AMD since conroe
I'm going to use 1055T

two boards I'm looking at

Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4
NCIX.com - Buy Gigabyte GA-790XTA-UD4 AMD790X ATX AM3 DDR3 2PCI-E 3PCI CrossFireX GBLAN SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard - GA-790XTA-UD4 In Canada.

MSI 890FXA-GD70
NCIX.com - Buy MSI 890FXA-GD70 ATX AM3 890FX DDR3 5PCI-E16 CrossFire 1PCI-E1 1PCI eSATA SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard - 890FXA-GD70 In Canada.

First one seems it has everything I'm looking for, USB3, SATA3, CF(2 cards max if I ever decide go Cf)
but 890FX is latest chipset.... worth $40?

I think USB3.0 is the future so i would get the one with USB3.0...

The one difference I would point out is the 890FX is supposed to be able to run x16 lanes for Crossfire while the 790 does x8 for both. So you are getting more bandwidth which will in turn give you more FPS, though I think the difference is marginal 5-10 FPS I believe (someone correct me if I am wrong).

If you plan on Crossfire with some decent cards I would get the 890FX.

My System Specs

Default

790X = Mainstream (22 PCIE lanes) SB750 Sata2

890FX =Enthusiast (38 PCIE lanes) SB850 Sata3
If I remember correctly.

There really is no comparison, the 890FX + SB850 is superior in every aspect.

And please look more carefully, both of them have USB3.0.

Worth the $40? F Yea!

Hope it helped.
