What to keep and what to sell...

Hello HWC,

I recent brought 2 AM3 motherboards for testing. Now I am stuck on which motherboard to sell.

One is the Gigabyte 770T-UD3P Rev1.0 GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview
Pros:
8+2 Phase Power management
Good overclocking

Cons:
**Only 1 PCI-E slot

Other one is the Gigabyte 785GT-UD3H GA-MA785GT-UD3H (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE - Product - Motherboard - Overview
Pros:
2 PCI-E Slots (16X and 4X)
Onboard Video processing
Good sound processing

Cons:
4+1 Phrase power management

**EDIT** or sell my 5200+, M2A-VM, 2GB Corsair Ram

So which one should i keep?

Do either of them have bios updates for the X6 chips? That'd be the first thing I look for.

Yup, both are X6 compatible.

Or should i sell my 5200+/M2A-VM/2GB ram for an Athlon X4?

And how much can i get for ^^^?

Basically i'm selling one of the three things because i am keeping two computers. If i sell my combo/bundle, then i can upgrade and actually use the Gigabyte 770T-UD3P. The UD3P is just laying around in my room, doing nothing...

I dunno, more opinions please?

Do you plan on running more than 1 gpu ever on this PC? Do you have discrete graphic card(s) to use, or do you need the integrated? I like the 770 because it's cheap and it's still an overclocker's/performance chipset, though it's a cheaper version without all the bells and whistles. With the ud3h, you have the second pcie slot for another card if you ever decide to get one, and the integrated graphics incase your primary graphics card dies. These wouldn't be a problem if you have more than one graphic card to work with, and if you don't ever want to run more than one gpu (crossfire/sli can be a pain sometimes, just get one card that's really good instead).

I don't know how much your 5200+/M2A-VM/2GB would be worth, but if you don't need it definitely get it sold before it looses more value :) I know that you could probably sell that 2gb of ram for around $30 depending on the brand though

Here is also something to consider, 770 is 65nm and 785G is 55nm. But the biggest con on the 785G is its size, since most people want matx for HTPC.
