Default 890GX Vs 880GX Differences & Choices

My 2nd daily use workstation will be an AMD build & I'm looking at a motherboard based on the newest 8xxx AMD chipset paired with the SB850 southbridge.

Question is what exactly are the differences between the 890GX & 880GX chipsets. As far as I can see you get a slightly lower clocked GPU in the 880GX and I believe sacrifice Crossfire while still maintaining Hybrid Crossfire and X6 CPU compatibility. All this naturally for a lower cost.

Crossfire is not a feature I will be using in this build and it isn't going to be a gaming machine, could be later but I can always add a video card at a later time.

Given my needs is the 890GX worthy of the extra $$$ ?

Not too sure what your needs are. I would expect not if you aren't gaming or editing anything.

Even if in the future I decide to game with this build I would then buy a video card. As for now I won't be gaming or doing any video editing.

Apart from that are there any show stopping differences?

Thanks for the info. From what I have as long as the 880GX is paired with the SB850 I can be assured of the latest & greatest.

Everything except for the IGP, these boards have the same feature. Its pretty much MATX vs ATX form factor.
