I'd say you'll probably get a 780i back.

he might even get a 790 if they have no 780

Actually it hasn't been "going" for a couple years.

RMA'ed my evga 680i for killing 3 set of ocz 1066 ram, got a 780i back and works great but about to be handed to the wife for my new core i7 build

I replaced my buddy's 680i last weekend and it was working fine. I only changed it cause he wanted to do crossfire.
