You noticed that too, eh? And both deleted... Guess I'm not the only one who has email notification turned on ;)

Just picked up this chip based on my needs (and some of my wants) and budget. Still quite new to HWC so I haven't seen this thread or read the review yet.

Seemed like best bang for the buck; now I'm really looking forward to reading up on it (not now, at 2am ) and getting it up and running. My old girl (S939 Athlon X2 3800+, WinXP Pro) is ready to retire.

Will the stock 540 cooler be enough for some light overclocking?

I was just going to run at stock speed, but if there's that much headroom from what I've read, I wouldn't mind OC'ing for a little performance boost.

So if I go for a slight OC, can an inexpensive HSF be that much better than stock?

I had a Hyper 212 on a 530 that seemed to max out the OC on the chip.

NCIX.com - Buy Corsair Cooling Air Series A50 Performance CPU Cooler LGA775 LGA1156 LGA1366 AM2 AM3 - CAFA50 In Canada.

If anyone is interested in an inexpensive aftermarket cooling solution, ncix has the Corsair A50 on sale until tomorrow for $24.99 (reg price $59.99, Mem Exp reg price is $49.99). Plus there is $15 MIR linked on the ncix product page! Might not want to PM at Mem Exp though, as it is an ncix exlusive rebate.

$24.99
+tax
+envelope, photocopying & stamp
+waiting for cheque in the mail
not too bad, even if the MIR doesn't come.
