Default new board recommendations plz

i liked the ASUS P7P55D Deluxe especially for the number of sata slots. i soured when i looked at their "qualified vendors list" and found that it would cost as nearly as much for the memory as the motherboard itself.

i have no desire to overclock. is there a decent motherboard out there where the memory isnt ridiculous?

thx for any advice

The QVL is like the Pirate's Code.... it's more of a guideline than a set of hard/fast rules.

If you're not planning on ocing, and especially if you're looking at stock non-enthusiast mem, you should have no problems at all getting it to run. If you want that "warm fuzzy" feeling that the QVL would give you, pick your mem out and go to their forums to find out if anybody else is running it on your motherboard of choice.

The wise man has spoken. QVL only means they had a chance to test it together. The number of possible combinations are too many for them to test everything. Any 4GB/8GB kit of DDR3 1333 or higher will do the trick.
